Enrico Mercaldi
Mastering Engineer
Enrico Mercaldi has quite an intense musical background. In 1988 he first stepped into music with the genre of hip hop. As a dj and performer he participated in various jams and festivals. With increasing enthusiasm he pursued the development of electronic music, which expressed itself in Enrico's constantly growing collection of synthesizers, drum machines and other equipment. In 1994, together with Meic Kluge, he created the electronic duo Wellenreiter - which in the following 7 years amounted to innumerable appearances in clubs and festivals (e.g. Cult/Leipzig, WMF/Berlin, Hanomag/Hanover) – all an important component of the club scene. At the same time he spun records under the pseudonym "Auxx" as resident in the Experience Club in Hanover, as well as at the Takt also in Hanover.
Under this same alias Auxx he released on Definition Records. In 1998, his occupation with sound from all perspectives of music practice – as a producer, DJ, mixer, live-electronician and club-musician – awakened his interest in the process of mastering as the operative interface between music and reproduction.
In 2000, Enrico met Andy Bolleshon, Producer and founder of Time Tools Mastering. Andy of course knew the Wellenreiter-Live sets and when he heard Enrico's productions he was inspired by Enrico's handling of powerful, organic sound, as well as his attention to detail. Since 2002, Enrico has mastered nearly 1.000 12-inches, albums and compilations for Time Tools; among them Depeche Mode, Matthew Herbert, Mousse T., Placebo, Timo Maas, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Warren G., Loco Dice, Patrick Nuo... His compilation masters contain releases, such as Ministry of Sound - The Annual, Clubber's Guide to Germany/Berlin/Ibiza..., Ritmo de Bacardi, Time Warp, Neue Heimat, Brazilectro, Miedzy Namy Café, Rap City Berlin, Süddeutsche Zeitung Diskothek, etc.
